Have you heard about Pap Smear?

I heard about it but never see Pap Smear as a very serious & necessary routine for any mom & woman today. I just thought it was just part of a campaign made by health workers but never see its significance at all. 

Last August 16, my college friends and I had a reunion after such 8 years of not seeing each other although we usually talk on social networking sites. The usual laughter and teasing which are our bonding activities during the old day plus the 'karaoke' add on had complete our routine of enjoyment. But as we go along our relish, a topic was opened by Vanessa Griño whom is a medical representative; 'Have you had a pap smear ever?' Ooopps... I hadn't had one but although I heard about it.

Among the seven girls and a guy in the group, three of us are moms already and none of us had any Pap Smear since, of course aside from Vanessa. The thought of getting a pap smear or a pap test sank into e as days go on.  So one day, I pushed myself to get a researched done about the interest and value of it. I went to the city library of Davao located at the 3rd floor of the Sangguniang Panglungsod or the City Hall. 

I started to look and found out the best book talking about the Pap Smear or the Pap Test. And luckily, I could share it here without concerning of  practicing plagiarism. Hope these would also help other moms and woman out there to have a good comprehension about Pap Smear. 

What is a Pap Test?

 A pap test is the removal and microscopic examination of the outer layer of cells lining the cervic. Named after its inventor, Dr. George Papanicolaou, it is based on the principle that if the cells are normal, the result is negative. if abnormal cells are found, the the result is positive and the woman is asked to a repeat test to confirm findings. These cells are shed continuously and are contained in vaginal secretions. Samples are taken from the cervical canal during internal examination and sent to the laboratory for analysis with a microscope.

Single Mom

Sometimes there are reasons why women chooses to be single raising their children by themselves. But whatever the reason is, still do we understand what they've really going through? It's quite so hard to raise children by your own, financially, emotionally,socially. But how do we help them anyway?

When I had my first child, I was by my own but not alone. Thanks to my family that I did survive with the help of my friends. And I would like to credit them the big help they've gave us.So to those single moms out there or just you knowing someone's in that shoes, just support them instead of blaming and putting them down. We'll never know whom they're carrying, maybe the future president of the Philippines.Why not?

So, to all single moms or even dads out there, I've researched about  non-government bodies to help single parents to raise their children but instead what I've found out is that our own government had all the benefits for single parents especially for their children of course considering that you are really single parents. SINGLE PARENT LAW in PHILIPPINES

Republic Act No. 8972 or the “Solo Parents’ Welfare Act of 2000”is the Philippine law on single parents. It was promulgated on November 7, 2000.

 

The law provides comprehensive program of services for solo parents and their children to be carried out by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), the Department of Health (DOH), the Department of Education, Culture and Sports (DECS), the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), the National Housing Authority (NHA), the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and other related government and non-government agencies. Living Together Relationships

Live-in relationships or arrangements are mostly common nowadays in which an unmarried couple lives together in a long-term relationships equally as married ones.

The question is: Do both parties knows their own rights? I was once in a situation where I am questioned being a 'wife' legally, and whew! It was like I  was blown some icy cold water. Yeah, right? I was so confident thinking that albeit the fact that we are not married, still I believe I hold the rights as a 'wife'.

But that was just I believe. It does matter that we know our rights even if we are not legally tied with our partners. So I want to share recently revised laws here in the Philippines for live-in partners or common-law marriage.

Art. 147. When a man and a woman who are capacitated to marry each other, live exclusively with each other as husband and wife without the benefit of marriage or under a void marriage, their wages and salaries shall be owned by them in equal shares and the property acquired by both of them through their work or industry shall be governed by the rules on co-ownership.

Art. 148. In cases of cohabitation not falling under the preceding Article, only the properties acquired by both of the parties through their actual joint contribution of money, property, or industry shall be owned by them in common in proportion to their respective contributions. In the absence of proof to the contrary, their contributions and corresponding shares are presumed to be equal. The same rule and presumption shall apply to joint deposits of money and evidences of credit.

 I would also like to share this law with regards to women and their children.

REPUBLIC ACT NO. 9262

AN ACT DEFINING VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN AND THEIR CHILDREN, PROVIDING FOR PROTECTIVE MEASURES FOR VICTIMS, PRESCRIBING PENALTIES THEREFORE, AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.

Sec. 3. Definition of Terms.- As used in this Act:

(e) "Dating relationship" refers to a situation wherein the parties live as husband and wife without the benefit of marriage or are romantically involved over time and on a continuing basis during the course of the relationship. A casual acquaintance or ordinary socialization between two individuals in a business or social context is not a dating relationship.
